Prompt: Talk about snow – did you grow up with it? Do you prefer snow or rain?
I’m a California girl. I’m a bit of an oddball because I live within 100 yards of where I grew up and one mile from where I was born. Most people here in the Bay Area are transplants from other areas, here for the high-tech jobs. We never really dip below the 50s in winter. So the first time I saw snow in person, I had to be about eight years old when it was actually cold enough for it to snow. It melted before 10:00 AM.
I’m used to wet Christmases. This year we didn’t get rain the day of, but we got some today. After several years of drought, it feels like the run up to the end of the year from my childhood.
